Frequently asked questions
What can't be sent?
Prohibited: narcotics, counterfeit banknotes and coins, pornographic and counterfeit materials, protected wildlife (CITES). Some goods — Buddha images, antiques, plants, food, medicines and cosmetics, electronics with radio modules and others — require written permission from the relevant Thai authorities. Ask a manager about your specific item.
How is the price calculated?
By chargeable weight: the greater of the actual weight and the volumetric weight (Length × Width × Height ÷ 5000). The calculator on this page gives a preliminary price; CDEK staff confirm the final amount at registration.
How long is a parcel stored before payment?
An outgoing parcel awaiting payment is stored free for 7 days, then 10 THB per kg per week.
Why can a parcel be delayed at customs?
Customs timelines are outside our control and can differ from one shipment to another — they depend on the contents, the paperwork and the current customs workload. A delay doesn't always mean a problem. We monitor the shipment status and can tell you what's happening, but we can't speed up a customs check.
How does the recipient find out about the parcel?
The status can be followed by tracking number in CDEK online tracking — it shows where the parcel is and when it can be collected. Any additional notifications depend on CDEK's delivery terms in the recipient's country.
What documents are required?
A correct and complete description of the goods in the waybill matching the contents. Goods from restricted lists need permits; in some cases an individual sender may be asked to explain the contents of the shipment. Our managers help with the paperwork.
